8 Days Uganda Chimps and Wildlife Safari

The Northern safari itinerary will take you to top two Uganda National Parks in the Northern circuit. This is our most popular safari itinerary in the Northern circuit, a home to the Big Five. Among them – Elephants, Lion, Cape buffalo, Leopard and the Rhinos.

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport 

Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed by a 1000 Shades of Green representative and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe. Overnight at Boma Guesthouse. B.B

Day 1: Fly out from Entebbe – Kidepo

On the second morning of your safari you will be driven to Entebbe Airport where you will board a flight to Kidepo Valley National park. After landing at Kidepo airstrip you will be met and driven to Apoka Lodge. After a refreshing lunch and a siesta, you will head out on your first game drive in the wide open savannah of Kidepo with antelope and zebras. Explore this region over the next couple of days delighting in wildlife encounters, from the graceful Giraffe to the mighty Elephants and the Big Cats of the plains while on game drives. Dinner and Overnight at Apoka Lodge. B.L.D

Day 2: Full Day in Kidepo Valley National Park

Early morning breakfast, we set off for a 2-3 hours morning game drive to Kidepo Valley National Park looking for lions, cheetahs and leopards. We relax at Apoka Lodge, lunch and we arrange for an evening fully parked Game drive. Return in the evening for Dinner and Overnight at Apoka Lodge. B.L.D

Day 3: Full Day in Kidepo Valley Park

Embark on our Game drive, return for lunch and again return to the game trails for the afternoon Game safari. 80 different kinds of mammals are found here, 28 of which are found nowhere else in Uganda.  Tree Climbing lions are found here during the day as they tend to roam at night, Herds of Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, 5 kinds of primates, bat-eared fox, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, cheetah and hunting dog, eland, bush buck, bush duskier, defassa water buck, bohor reed buck, Jackson’s hartebeest and oribi. Dinner and Overnight at Apoka Lodge. B.L.D

Day 4: Karamojong Community Visit

The Karamojong people have been settled in Northern Uganda since 1600 A.D. Originally from Ethiopia, the name Karamojong is derived from a phrase meaning ‘the old men can walk no further’. Apoka Lodge has established a good relationship with a nearby Karamojong community and the opportunity is there to visit the village and learn about this history of this interesting community and its culture and traditions. Day 5: Kidepo Valley Park-Murchison falls 1-1:30 hrs.

Early morning breakfast, games drive as you drive through Kidepo to the airstrip and take your flight to Pakuba airstrip. Driver picks you up from Pakuba and drives you to Paraa Safari Lodge. Check in your hotel, have lunch and relax. Later in the evening, enjoy an evening game drive and retire late in the afternoon at your hotel. Dinner and Overnight at Paraa Lodge B.L.D

Day 6: Murchison falls National Park

Early mornings embark on a half-day game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, escorted by a game ranger. Wildlife in this part includes the Rothschild Giraffe, elephant, Jackson hartebeest, lions, oribis, waterbucks and a variety of savannah woodland birds. In the afternoon we will go on a Nile cruise for game viewing at close quarters; this is a paradise for hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and Overnight at Paraa Lodge B.L.D

Day 7: Chimpanzee – Kampala 5-6Hrs

Proceed for a forest walk in Pabidi Forest.  Primates resident in this forest include l’ hoestes, red Columbus, blues, red tailed monkeys and grey cheeked Mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only about primates, but also on all the forest flora and fauna and will ensure that our walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for bird watching and for seeing primates at close quarters. After lunch; drive back to Kampala, arriving late afternoon.  Optional: Rhino tracking at Zziwa rhino sanctuary for an extra $48 per person. Dinner and Overnight at Cassia Lodge. B.B

Day 8: Departure:

Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. In time you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your international flight back home.
