Uganda Safari Holiday Experience
This 14 Day Uganda Adventurer safari allows you to enjoy a safari holiday in most of Uganda’s premier national parks – giving you a mixture of primate and wildlife adventure experience. Trek the mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, as well as enjoying the game at Queen Elizabeth national park, Lake Mburo and chill at Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed by a 1000 Shades of Green representative and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe. Overnight at Boma Guesthouse. B.B
Day 2: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park (6-7hrs)
We depart for Fort Portal after an early breakfast. This long journey will be rewarded with stunning views while you pass small villages and local markets. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to the dense forest of Kibale National Park. Arrive in the afternoon in time for lunch. After lunch visit Nyakasura caves and return late in the afternoon at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Papaya Lake Lodge. B.L.D
Day 3: Crater Lakes
Have a calm breakfast before we head off for an exploration of the crater lakes. Enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes, surrounded by gentle hills, and the stunning views. Take a hike at Lake Nkuruba to encounter different species of primates and birds, and visit the CVK Crater Lake. Meet the local people as you walk through their villages, learn about the customs of the Batoro tribe and enjoy the panoramic views. Dinner and overnight at Papaya Lake Lodge. B.L.D
Day 4: Kibale Forest & Bigodi Swamp
Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white Colobus monkey and many others. After a hearty lunch we transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for another, totally different nature walks. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at Papaya Lake Lodge. B.L.D
Day 5: Semliki – Queen Elizabeth national park (3 hrs.)
Today you can enjoy Semliki hot springs! Semliki reserve is situated in the basin of the Western Rift Valley. The park is known for its night game drive that give you a good view of the nocturnal mammals like the white tailed mongoose and slender mongoose, standard and pennant winged nightjars, cats, hyenas, leopards and many more. Have a guided walk at the hot springs, boil eggs and learn about the local culture firsthand. After this experience we calmly transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
The day begins with an early morning search for tree climbing lions and mating ground of the Uganda Kob. We search for elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the abundant birdlife that is sighted, and the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari. Day 7: Queen Elizabeth –Bwindi NP 5-7 hrs.
Today we will depart the beautiful area of Queen Elizabeth and drive to the southwest. After a calm and scenic drive, we will arrive in Bwindi late in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight Silverback Lodge. B.L.D
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking The highlight of your safari: Close up & get personal with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience! Dinner and Overnight Silverback Lodge. B.L.D
Day 9: The Batwa Trail
Today you will enjoy the Batwa Trail, a firsthand introduction to one of the most unique cultures worldwide. The Batwa pygmies are a forest people displaced from the rain forest they shared with mountain gorillas. This experience will give you the opportunity to learn more about their age old culture while you enjoy a hike with the Batwa guides, see how they lived and hunted, hear ancient legends and learn about medical plants. Day 10: Bwindi National Park – Lake Bunyonyi (4 hrs.)
After breakfast we depart to Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa. Relax, take a swim or go for a canoe trip while you watch the beautiful sunset. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort. B.L.D
Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo (6-7 hrs.)
After breakfast we depart the magnificent lake Bunyonyi and head to Lake Mburo National Park. As we enter the park it is likely that you will spot some wildlife. After checking in you will go on a boat ride on the lake to view the rich bird life and many hippos that are cooling off. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Mburo Safari Lodge. B.L.D
Day 12: Nature walk safari & Horseback safari
Wake up and enjoy a four-hour horse ride safari with picnic breakfast to the park. Return late in the afternoon in time for a hot lunch. Free evening or Optional: An evening safari walk guided by a ranger. Lake Mburo is the only national park where you can experience a safari on foot. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Mburo Safari Lodge. Day 13: Lake Mburo-Kampala (5-6Hrs) paved road After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kampala. Arrive in the afternoon and check in your hotel. Have lunch and later in the day visit the craft market or African craft as well as a brief city tour. Retire at your hotel for Dinner and Overnight at Cassia Lodge-Kampala. B.B
Day 14: Departure
Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. In time you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your international flight back home.
