Recently founded Hope Medical Clinics seeks to close the healthcare gap by offering affordable and accessible healthcare for low to middle-income groups. 1000 Shades of Green Tour & Safaris offers volunteer opportunities & tours of clinics for 1000 SGTS clients to understand the great need for healthcare and inspire guests to work for change.
With the organization growing, there are hopes that 1000 SGTS will be able to do various service projects for guests looking for a service-immersion experience to benefit the clinics.
Public healthcare in Uganda has fallen short of meeting the needs of individuals and families dealing with everyday illnesses and chronic disease. In steps Hope Medical Clinics seeking to close the healthcare gap by providing affordable and accessible healthcare to low and middle-income groups in Uganda.
Hope Medical Clinics (HMC) is currently opened up a maternal health hospital in Kawempe following the success of two previously built clinics in Kasubi and Ndejje.
HMC is entirely staffed by healthcare providers from Uganda and is welcome to volunteers from the medical field and beyond.
If you’re seeking a volunteer immersion, HMC has many areas and is willing to customize your experience to allow you to share your individual skill sets and compassion with the community.
HMC is open to individuals and groups looking for a long-term volunteer experience for three months and up to a year or for a brief opportunity of just a week or two:
- Shadow healthcare professionals
- Aid in public health education
- Work on clinic promotion
- Lend a hand inpatient child care
- Spend time landscaping or doing maintenance on hospital grounds
- Or work on grant writing to policymakers in Uganda, the US, and beyond.
Whatever services you might render, it’s about working with the community in Uganda – at HMC, and we expect our volunteers to remember you’re not helping but rather serving the community on an equal platform. To eradicate systems of poverty, we must be in this together.
Enjoy a weekend away from the volunteer site with a tour of the Ssese Islands or jaunt up the country to Jinja where you’ll see the source of the Nile. For longer stays, spend some time away from the city exploring on a 3 day/2nights safari to Murchison.
